Tour overview

This tour has all the ingredients for the perfect honeymoon: luxury and romance with a touch of adventure. From the famous Victoria Falls to the vast plains of South Luangwa National Park and the warm waters of Lake Malawi, there could not be a more perfect start to married life. You will first fly to Victoria Falls, one of Africa’s most popular regions and the perfect place to begin this trip. From your base, which is about an hour upstream from the falls, you can explore the entire area at your leisure without the hustle and bustle that can set in if you stay closer to the falls. Of course, you will spend some time walking in the gorge and marvelling at this amazing natural wonder, but there are plenty of other activities here that provide adventure and plenty of variety. Next up is South Luangwa National Park, one of the best areas for big game viewing in Africa, especially big cat and elephant sightings. Explore the plains with your guide and enjoy amazing wildlife sightings and the luxury of one of the best lodges in all of Africa. From South Luangwa you will fly east to Malawi where you will spend a few days on a wonderful beach holiday. Although Malawi is a landlocked country, the lake of the same name is one of the best beach locations on the continent and perfect to round off your honeymoon. Your lodge is located on a tiny island and is a little paradise on earth and a wonderful addition to any African trip. At the end of the tour you will fly back to Lilongwe where you will catch your flight home.

Itinerary

You will land in Johannesburg this morning and take a late morning flight to Livingstone, Zambia’s gateway to Victoria Falls. From the airport you will be transferred to Royal Chundu River Lodge, the furthest lodge from Victoria Falls on the Zambian side with 15 km of private river frontage to explore. This means you avoid the crowds that can be found at other lodges and hotels, while still having easy access to the falls and all the activities associated with them.

Day 2: Exploring Victoria Falls

Enjoy a day exploring the Victoria Falls region in the company of one of Royal Chundu’s incredible guides. It is about an hour from the lodge to the falls, so you will usually want to set aside a morning to visit, including a walk along the falls’ viewpoints. If the water level is low enough, a walk on the edge of the falls is also possible. Also visit the excellent David Livingstone Museum, located in the heart of town.
