Day 1: Arrive in Blantyre / Transfer to Majete Wildlife Reserve

On arrival in Blantyre, you will complete immigration formalities and collect your luggage before being picked up and transferred by road to Majete Wildlife Reserve where you will spend the next three nights at Mkulumadzi Lodge. Enjoy some time to relax before meeting your guide for afternoon tea and setting off on your first game drive in this stunning reserve. Home to Africa’s fabled ‘Big 5’, Majete offers the best wildlife experience in Malawi and your experienced guide will ensure you have fantastic game viewing.

Day 2: Exploring Majete Wildlife Reserve

As well as taking you on game drives, the team at Mkulumadzi will also take you on walking safaris and boat cruises on the Shire River, providing a wonderfully varied safari experience. The walks will allow you to see the smaller animals you might miss on the game drives, while the boat cruises are incredibly relaxing and the perfect way to spend an afternoon. You can also visit local villages to get an insight into traditional life and learn about the use of plants and trees for medicinal purposes – very important knowledge deep in the bush.

Day 3: And relax…

Of course, between your game drives you will have plenty of time to sit back, relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The swimming pool and sundeck overlooking the Shire River are a popular place to relax and staff are always on hand to provide drinks. The food is superb and a real highlight of a stay here, with meals served in a variety of inspiring locations. Weather permitting, you can also sleep under the stars – an incredible experience not to be missed.

Day 4: Lake Malawi awaits you…

You have time for a final morning safari and breakfast at the lodge before you are picked up and taken by road to the sparkling shores of Lake Malawi. Your home for the next 4 nights is Pumulani, a charming lodge on a hill overlooking the huge inland lake. Here you can relax and be pampered to your heart’s content. Enjoy a wide range of activities, excellent food, charming people, and a unique view.

Day 5-7: Enjoy the lake…

The name Pumulani means something like “to rest well” and that hits the nail on the head. You can relax by the pool on the hill or down by the lake, enjoy the sun on a sun lounger or swim in the warm, clear waters of the lake. In addition to snorkelling, swimming and diving, you can try out various water sports from the beach. At sunset you can take a trip on a traditional, hand-made dhow – the perfect way to end the day.

Day 8: Departure

This morning you have time to relax and enjoy the view of the lake before you are picked up and taken to Lilongwe airport.
